The Reasons I Love the Flag
''I pledge Allegiance to the flag'' Have you ever stopped and wondered what you are
pledging your allegiance to? The flag is not just some piece of cloth made by Betsy
Ross. The United States flag is special because it is a symbol of what my country
means to me.
The American flag has many visible symbols. In Texas, stars have always been a big
deal for us in ''The Lone Star State'' Speaking of stars, there are 50 stars on the flag
that represent the 50 states of the union, and the stripes stand for the original 13
Colonies. The colors of the flag are symbolic as well: red signifies hardiness and
courage, white represents purity and innocence, and blue stands for vigilance,
perseverance, and justice.
The American flag as a whole is also a symbol for freedom because the
amendments grant rights regardless of your religion, gender, or ethnicity. The flag
represents Integrity because America is dependable, and third world countries know we
have their backs. The flag also exemplifies justice with a sense of respect because the
laws are designed for right to prevail over wrong and protect the innocent.
The American justice
system has taken me out of the situation I was in and put me on a better path. If it
wasn’t for our justice system you would not be reading my essay right now. Because I
am out of that bad situation, I’m finally in a fabulous home, school, and family. Life,
liberty, and the pursuit of happiness – America truly gives these to me. And that is why I
love the American flag so much.
The American flag waves proudly for our country. When you see it flying through the
sky think of all the blood, sweat, and tears that went into making America the great
nation it is. The next time you see the flag soaring through the sky reflect on what its
symbols mean to you.
